How SARUS Started

‘necessity is the mother of all invention’ – particularly when faced by the challenges of a pandemic!

The SARUS story is a tale of partnership and collaboration, people from public and private sectors working together. The invention was driven by the urgent need to find a way to reduce CPR risks faced by personnel and patients during and after the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic.

    Provided the clinical, research, training and health & safety expertise

  • Keela International and the Ardmel Group (based in Glenrothes)

    Facilitated the co-design, engineering, prototyping, research and production of the hoods

  • SHIL (Scottish Health Innovations Ltd)

    Provided innovation support and finance for the assessment, protection, development and commercialisation of the product
